    PhD project: Materials for charge transport in perovskite solar cell

    Description of research: I am currently studying the possibility of Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) as a hole transport material (HTL) in a p-i-n perovskite solar cell architecture. My aim is to improve the stability of perovskite solar cell by replacing the commonly used but less-stable, polymer-based HTL such as poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS), while maintaining its performance or better improving it. My work involves the synthesis of CZTS nanoparticles (NPs) ink, fabrication, and optimization of CZTS thin film, and fabrication of perovskite solar cell. Several analyses related to my study are morphological and structural study, chemical composition analysis, energy level and band gap calculation, and electrical performance of solar cell.

    Curriculum: I am a 2015 Bachelor of Science with Honors graduate in Chemical Technology from The National University of Malaysia (UKM). During the final year of my study, I did an internship for 3 months as a trainee supervised by a process engineer in a rubber glove manufacturing company, Ansell. In 2016, I was recruited by Solar Energy Research Institute - The National University of Malaysia (SERI-UKM) to enrol in a programme as one of their young researchers. Around the same time, I furthered my study by coursework for one year at the same university and became a Master of Science graduate in Energy Technology. Finally, from November 2017 until now, I am a current PhD student at the Department of Civil Environmental, and Mechanical Engineering, University of Trento (Unitn), focusing on materials and architectures of solar cells.
