Dr. Himanshu Nautiyal, 2023-2024
First principle electronic structure calculation of thermoelectric materials
Description of research: I am working on first principle electronic structure calculation of thermoelectric materials.
Curriculum: I obtained my PhD at Department of Civil, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering, University of Trento in 2023. I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree (Physics) from University of Delhi, India in 2016. After graduation I received my Master of Science (Physics) degree from Central University of Haryana, India in 2018. My master's thesis was on "Glass preparation and statistical analysis of plastic event in a steady state: A molecular dynamics simulation".
Dr. Ketan Lohani, 2022-2023
Development of Cu2SnS3 based thermoelectric materials and devices
I am working on structural, spectroscopic, and thermal properties of thermoelectric nanomaterials. I also study phononic and electronic transport properties. My recent research works are focused on Copper Tin Sulfide (Cu2SnS3, CTS) material and its possible applications as a high-performing thermoelectric material.. I obtained my PhD in 2022 at University of Trent. I hold a bachelor's and a master’s degree in Physics. I did my master’s thesis work (Jan-July 2018) from Hard X-ray Applications Laboratory (HXAL), Indus-II synchrotron source, Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT), Indore, India. I studied structural, spectroscopic, and magnetic properties of Nickel-Ferrite nanoparticles using various beam-lines of Indus-II synchrotron source.

Functionalization of anion-exchange membranes for fuel cells
My research activity has mainly focused on the development of membranes for fuel cells. In particular it centers around the synthesis and characterization of anion exchange membranes. I obtained my PhD in 2018 at University of Trento, with the thesis title; Anion Exchange Membranes (AEMs), based on Polyamine Obtained by Modifying Polyketone, for Electrochemical Applications, under supervision of Prof. Rosa Di Maggio and Prof. Paolo Scardi. I also had the opportunity to work with Prof. Vito Di Noto from University of Padua, Italy. I am currently working at Prof’s Scardi group as a postdoc. My main research interest covers the following topics:
Fuel cell membranes and technology
Thin film photovoltaic cells and thin film thermoelectric
Mechanical activation of drugs for HIV and COVID-19
