Full Professor of Materials Science and Technology since 2002, 38 years of research on materials, author of >350 articles (H-index=51, >15000 citations). Past Chairman of the European Powder Diffraction Conference (EPDIC) committee and of the IUCr Commission on Powder Diffraction, winner of the Hanawalt award for 2016 and EPDIC award for distinguished powder diffractionist for 2024. Research interests include X-ray powder diffraction methods and applications, nanocrystalline materials, thin films and coatings, energy materials (thin film photovoltaic cells, fuel cells, water splitting, nanocrystalline catalysts, thermoelectrics). Current work focuses on the integration of atomistic modelling (by MD, DFT, DFPT, AIMD) of materials with X-ray diffraction and other spectroscopic techniques.
