Full Professor of Materials Science and Technology since 2002, with 40 years of research experience in materials. He is the author of >370 articles (H-index=56, >17000 citations).

Key Recognitions:

  • Past Chairman of the European Powder Diffraction Conference (EPDIC) committee.
  • Past Chairman of the IUCr Commission on Powder Diffraction.
  • Winner of the Hanawalt award for 2016.
  • Winner of the EPDIC award for distinguished powder diffractionist for 2024.

Research Interests

  • X-ray powder diffraction methods and applications.
  • Nanocrystalline materials, thin films and coatings.
  • Energy materials: thin film photovoltaic cells, fuel cells, water splitting, nanocrystalline catalysts, thermoelectrics.
  • Current focus: Integration of atomistic modelling (MD, DFT, DFPT, AIMD) with X-ray diffraction and other spectroscopic techniques.
